We offer you the most affordable self-catering accommodation and luxury camping in the Helmeringhausen area. Come and enjoy a relaxed and affordable stay on the oldest commercial farm in Namibia still in the same family (since 1854). Rampie the tame springbok

We are one of the oldest karakul studs still active and you can come and participate in farming activities and enjoy real farm life.


Children are more than welcome and we have a tame springbok as well as a big jungle gym to keep them occupied for very long. Our children enjoy entertaining yours!

Our aim is to give you the best possible accommodation at the best value for your money!



Self-catering accommodation
We have 4 self-catering units, fully equipped with bed linen, towels, fridge, stove and everything you need in the kitchen. Each unit has its own BBQ-area where you can enjoy your own BBQ (with succulent Karakul chops and sausage, bought locally) with a view over the fields and the docile environment of a windmill in the distance with water falling into the nearby reservoir. The Eagle Village is our open plan units (Bateleur, Black Eagle and Martial Eagle). This is our contribution to a greener tomorrow with solar geysers and solar power for electricity.

The Bateleur can sleep 2-3 people with one double bed and a single bed.

The Black Eagle can sleep 4 people with one double bed and two single beds and is also wheelchair friendly.

The Martial Eagle can sleep 4-6 people with two 3/4 beds, two single beds and one bunker bed.

All equipment in the kitchens work with gas and electricity is solar powered 12V lights. For the cold winter evenings there is a gas heater in the kitchen. A private safe for your valuables like purses and jewelry is situated in each unit.

All units have beautiful views over the farm and trees for shade alongside and in front of them. The bathrooms are all equipped with hot showers, toilets and wash basins. Weaver's Nest

The Weaver's Nest is our big unit and can sleep 2-8 people. Three separate rooms (one family room with one double bed and two singles) and two twin rooms) share one bathroom. This unit has 220V power and the BBQ place is situated in front of the unit with a beautiful view over the tranquil garden.

Safe parking is available for all vehicles.

BBQ-packs and breakfast packs are available for the self-caterer. A restaurant liquor licence enables us to serve beverages, beer and wine. Other fresh farm products like eggs, bacon, milk, butter and cream can also be purchased if needed. camp site camp site

Camping
At our camp site you can enjoy the luxury of hot showers, flush toilets, private BBQ-places and electricity. The sites are big enough to accommodate 2-3 cars in a group or a car with a caravan or trailer. Washing up places for dishes and clothes are also available. We strive to be the cleanest and neatest camp site in the area, with lots of shade and security.

Dinner, Bed and Breakfast option coming soon!

We are currently busy building a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast facility which will be able to accommodate 6 people at a time (three double rooms) and this will be open to the public early in 2010. Aloe trail

Activities
Two hiking trails, the Aloe trail which is a 45 minute walk near the farm stead and the Kudu trail (currently in process of development) which will be a two day hike of +- 15km of beautiful scenery and game and bird viewing opportunities on the way with a sleepover cottage for maximum five people where everything will be provided in the cottage and luggage will be taken there after your first days' walk - this means you only walk with your daypack (water and refreshments).

Karakul farming information tours and farm drives if booked in advance. The Karakul farming information tours is also available for people who is not sleeping over and just want to see what Karakul farming is about. The best times for this are in our Karakul lambing seasons which are from January 15 to March 15, May 4 to July 10 and September 10 to November 10. For these tours booking is essential. These tours are more or less 2-3 hours long.

Excellent stargazing opportunities! Swimming in a farm reservoir

Bird watching (during one day in March 2009 a birdwatcher spotted 24 different bird species in one spot in about 1.5 hours' time).

Participation in farming activities if staying for two or more days at no extra cost.

Swimming in a farm reservoir for the hot summer days are just a few meters away from the campsite.

Discount to citizens of Namibia and South-Africa as well as for children under 10.

Where are we?
We are 19 km from Helmeringhausen on the C27 road to Sossusvlei. Just 300km from Sossusvlei, Lüderitz or Fish River Canyon, Lovedale is definitely the place to stop and relax. We are only 500m off the C27 main road and can be reached with any kind of vehicle, from bicycle to bus!

Our rates:
Our rates are calculated per unit for the Eagle Village and per person for the campsite and the Weaver's Nest. These rates do not include any discounts, but tourism levies are included.
